The biggest sorrow is the departure of a loved one from this world. But death is a truth that no one can deny. Because whether a person is rich or poor, everyone has to die. Some people die at a young age, while some people live till the age of 100. But do you know how much a dead body weighs after being cremated in Hinduism?
Ashes of the body
Let us tell you that in Hinduism, when someone dies, his body is cremated by burning the dead body. In Hinduism, this is also called Dahan Sanskar. According to the rules of Hinduism, after burning the body, some part of the ashes that remain are taken and immersed in the Ganges. But do you know how much ashes remain in the end when a person dies and his body is cremated? Is the weight of this ash equal to the weight of the person?
Last rites in Hinduism
Let us tell you that when a person’s body is cremated, his dead body is burnt. However, it is also true that the body never burns completely. Even in the modern machines installed in the crematoriums, the body is not able to burn completely. During the last rites, some parts of the body remain half burnt. Some of these last body parts are picked up and immersed in the Ganga in the form of bones. However, the question is that if a person’s body is completely burnt, then will the weight of his ashes also be equal to the weight of his body. Today we will tell you the reason behind this.
Weight of ashes
According to scientists, the ash that remains after burning a dead human body is around 1 to 3.5 percent of the body weight. In simple terms, if the weight of a dead body is 80 kg, then the ashes left after burning it will be around 2.8 kg. According to scientists, when a person is in his full body, there is a lot of water and various other things inside his body. But after burning, all these things disappear and the whole body turns into tiny particles of ash. This is the reason why a dead body of 80 kg finally turns into ash weighing 2.8 kg.
Cremation with modern machines
Nowadays, in big cities, people are using electric cremation after death to avoid wood and pollution. But the question is whether ashes remain after burning the body in electric cremation as well. A doctor told that actually the dead body does not burn and turn into ashes inside the machine. However, usually when the dead body is cremated using wood, the body burns and turns into ashes. In Hindu religion, people take this ash in an asthi kalash (urn). But this does not happen in electric crematoriums. In this, the flesh of the human body gets burnt and disappears and only dry bones remain. After this, these bones are put in a machine, in which its powder is made. This powder is ground at a very high speed in the machine. People take this as ash in an asthi kalash.
